Christine Johnson, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC is an experienced educator and board-certified Psychiatric/Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Johnson earned her Associate of Applied Science degree, with medical assisting focus, from Robert Morris College, Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in nursing degrees from University of St. Francis and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Governors State University. She has over 20 years of healthcare experience with acute nursing experience in psychiatry and family practice. Her background includes psychiatric care across the lifespan, but mainly therapeutic psychopharmacology for adolescents and adults.
Dr. Johnson’s career took her on a journey through inpatient and outpatient settings, including medication management for intensive outpatient, depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use disorders, mood disorders, and other chronic mental health disorders. Dr. Johnson enjoys being an educator and her primary mission is to share her vast knowledge and experience with her current students and to further advance the field of nursing and prepare future advanced nurse practitioners. Past positions held in higher education include Assistant Professor and Director of Nurse Practitioner Programs.
Dr. Johnson retired from the military where she was honored to care for wounded soldiers from OEF/OIF/OND as well as soldiers in the Illinois Guard and Reserve. She is passionate about the care she provides her patients and being an advocate for mental health awareness. Christine’s past activities, accolades and accomplishments include being a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Honor Society of Nursing-Sigma Theta Tau International, Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nursing, National Scholastic Honor Society-Delta Epsilon Sigma, and SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society.
