MD Erfanul Alam

Dr. Md Erfanul Alam joined North Central College in 2021 as an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2014, M. Sc. in Applied Science degree from Georgia Southern University, in 2017, and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, in 2021. His research work emphasizes a specific area of Mechanical Engineering that focuses on studying fluid and solid interfaces. He studies structural damping produced by the sloshing of drops in millimetric scale where the drops' motion is limited by Surface tension and adhesion force. This research will help Drone manufacturing companies to understand how to make the drone survive in places with environmental challenges such as raindrops, snowfall, and other falling materials. Dr. Alam’s work in these areas has generated broad interest across the field of engineering, resulting in publications in several high-impact journals such as Soft Matter, Physics of Fluids, Proceeding of Royal Society A, and American Physical Society.

Dr. Alam plays Action Real-Time Strategy games in the multiplayer online platform. He plays support role in DOTA. Ancient Apparition is his favorite hero in DOTA 2. He also likes outdoor activities as well, which include playing soccer, hiking, camping, biking.
