Maestra Chen weaves notions of devotion through a symphonic lens with “Love Letters,” our homage to love. Brahms’ unrequited love for Clara Schumann could only be expressed in music, while Mahler’s adoration for wife Alma inspired his sublime Adagietto, offering a profound expression of marital love. 

Grammy Award-winning bassoonist Monica Ellis is featured in two Chicago Sinfonietta compositions by composers Michelle Issac and Sandra Bailey, including a World Premiere. Valerie Coleman, Issac, and Bailey offer their perspectives on filial love, plus admiration and appreciation for strong women everywhere.
