ZACHARY MICHAEL JACK has published more than twenty award-winning books in a variety of genres, including fiction, poetry, literary journalism, creative nonfiction, and personal essay for adults and young adults alike in addition to his work as an active drama educator and playwright. Zachary’s fiction has earned national runner-up honors in its class in the Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Award; his poetry has been awarded the Prentice Hall Prize, and his nonfiction has received nominations for the Pushcart (Best of the Small Presses) Prize and numerous book-of-the-year awards.The author and his work have been featured in USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Washington Examiner, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Albuquerque Journal, and the Des Moines Register among others. Zachary’s many scholarly books have been published by the top university presses in America, and his popular works of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry have been well-reviewed by industry-leading opinion-makers such as The New York Review of Books, Publisher’s Weekly, Choice, Kirkus, and Foreword Reviews.
Professor Jack is a national board member of the Midwest History Association (MHA), a member of the National New Play Network and a member playwright at the Playwrights' Center, among others. His work has been selected for inclusion in the Iowa Authors Collection at the University of Iowa, the Iowa Center for the Book, and the Illinois Center for the Book curated by the Illinois State Library and State Librarian.
