Dr. Maddy Nave Tortelli, OTD, OTR/L is an assistant professor of occupational therapy. Maddy earned her Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Human Occupation Studies from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, then received her Occupational Therapy Doctorate from Drake University.
Maddy has a special interest in the mental health roots of occupational therapy. Prior to transitioning to academia, Maddy worked in forensic mental health where she focused on client-centered, occupation-based intervention for life skills and community reintegration programming.
Maddy has a particular interest in creating a classroom focused on belonging and inclusivity to foster well-rounded practitioners.
Dr. Nave Tortelli is a member of the occupational therapy honor society, Pi Theta Epsilon, and serves as one of the faculty advisors for North Central's Beta Sigma chapter. This service-oriented chapter allows members to get involved in the community while utilizing occupational therapy skills.
