America McGuffee, MA, MPAS, PA-C (she/hers) has been a PA educator for over seven years, teaching across all areas but with a focus on cardiology. Originally from Central Texas, she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a specialization in Speech-Language Pathology. She practiced as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the county hospitals in both Houston and Fort Worth, Texas for 14 years solidifying her dedication to working with underserved populations before beginning her PA education at UNTHSC. She graduated with her MPAS in 2010 having been awarded the Outstanding Clinical Student award. Additionally, she earned a Certificate in Lifestyle Medicine while practicing correctional and addiction medicine. She practiced as a PA for over 10 years, precepted PA students, and became a full-time PA educator in 2017. In November 2024, she moved to Illinois and joined the North Central College Physician Assistant Program where she continues to fuel her passion to educate future healthcare providers.
