Kate Pope

Director, English Language Institute

Kate Pope joined North Central College in 2013 to launch the English Language Institute (ELI). To this position, Pope brings her own experience of studying abroad, learning and speaking a second language (French), teaching in a foreign country, and developing and leading an intensive English program at a university. She is passionate about integrating the Institute into the College campus and has given presentations at local and international TESOL conferences about how to effectively support intensive English program students at an undergraduate institution. She is happy to answer any questions you have about English Language Institute programming.

Priya Shah

Associate Director, International Recruitment

Priya Shah is the Associate Director of International Recruitment at North Central College. In this role, she travels the world talking to future North Central College students, including future English Language Institute students. Before moving into this position, she was the Lead Instructor in the English Language Institute at the College, so working with future English Language Institute students is one of her favorite parts of her job.

Ann Carnell

Associate Director, International Enrollment Management

Ann (Annie) Carnell is the Associate Director of International Enrollment Management at North Central College. In this role, she communicates a lot with future North Central College students, including future English Language Institute students. If you apply, you will likely hear from her at least once! Before moving into this position, she worked in various roles in the Office of Admission and as a translator at a local middle school – se habla espanol. Finally, Annie has studied and lived abroad in Mexico, and has traveled extensively in Central and South America, as well as Europe.

Rola Goke-Pariola

Graduate Assistant, English Language Institute

Rola is the Graduate Assistant for the English Language Insitute. She is currently pursuing her MBA with a concentration in International Business. In May of 2023, she graduated from North Central with a degree in Global Studies and a minor in Political Science. Rola spent her undergraduate years involved in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work at North Central alongside faculty and staff, serving as a member of the Black Student Association, being a Resident Assistant, and working on an undergraduate thesis about voting. Rola enjoys working with students and supporting them with their transition into life at North Central. In her free time, she loves to paint, read, and find new shows to binge!
