Dr. Stephen Maynard Caliendo discussed Trump’s second impeachment
It is official, the U.S. House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Trump for inciting insurrection, marking the second time he has been impeached. Dr. Stephen Maynard Caliendo, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College, interviewed on FOX 32 Chicago to analyze just how historic this announcement is and its impact on Trump’s political future.
“It’s historic because this is only the fourth time we’ve had an impeachment, and he is the only president now that has been impeached twice,” said Dr. Caliendo. “It’s also historic because even though the floor was pretty low, it is the most bipartisan impeachment we’ve ever had. Impeachments have fallen on party lines before and this one did certainly as well; but, 10 of the 207 Republicans who voted in the resolution voted to impeach today and that’s a lot. That’s more than we’ve had in previous impeachments.”
