Sep 10, 2018
North Central College was ranked No. 13 in U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 “Best Regional Universities” Midwest category—schools that offer a full range of undergraduate and master’s degrees. This is the 25th consecutive year U.S. News & World Report has ranked North Central among America’s Best Colleges.
U.S. News & World Report also ranked the College at No. 25 for the “Best Value Schools” list in the Midwest category; No. 20 for the “Best Undergraduate Teaching” list in the Midwest category; and among “A-Plus Schools for B Students,” a designation that recognizes institutions “where spirit and hard work can make all the difference” and that are distinguished by a “broad and engaged student body.”
“North Central continues to be a leader in the higher education landscape by investing in first-class facilities and launching new academic programs, such as engineering, neuroscience and environmental science,” said Dr. Troy D. Hammond, president. “We’re committed to advancing our programs and overall academic excellence to provide a transformative education to our students.”
U.S. News & World Report bases its rankings on a system that evaluates up to 16 indicators of academic excellence, including graduation and retention rates, assessment by peers from other institutions and high school counselors, student selectivity, faculty resources, financial resources and alumni giving.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are the latest in a series of accolades for North Central. The Princeton Review named the institution a Best Midwestern College in its annual survey of the nation’s best colleges, and was ranked in Money Magazine’s list of best colleges that combines educational quality, affordability and alumni engagement. Additionally, the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education included the North Central among “US College Rankings for 2019.”
