Education Abroad: Speak with a Program Returnee

Our Study Abroad Ambassadors are the official education abroad student voice on the North Central College campus. Representing a variety of majors and programs abroad, the Ambassadors are always available to answer general and specific questions about education abroad and their programs.

If you are interested in a program or have a major that is not represented within our ambassadors, please contact the Center for Global Education at (630) 637-5132 or contact the education abroad advisor: Rachel Birkley.

Meet our 2024-2025 Study Abroad Ambassadors!

Sam

Sam Barton '25

Major: International Business

Minor: Political Science

I was able to study Management and Politics abroad at the University of Waikato in the fall of 2023. During my time in New Zealand, I was able to explore many passions from hiking to history to photography, all while still taking classes. The experience opened my eyes to the complexities of doing business in other countries and pushed me to learn in new and exciting ways. I hope all students study abroad to expand their horizons and open their minds to a new and interesting part of the world!

Major: Chemistry

I chose to study abroad at the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, during the Spring of 2024! A fun fact about me is that I am from Puerto Rico, which in itself made me feel like going to North Central was a study abroad experience!

A reason to study abroad is the fact that you’re only in college once, and you’re only this age once, and there is nothing more fun than being young, and able to see the world before you have to go into the real world, and work for the rest of your life. So, please go away!

Milica

Milica Glisovic '24

Major: Psychology

I joined the education abroad team this fall semester 2024 after my experience studying abroad in Ireland during the May Term 2023, as well Canterbury, England during the spring semester 2024.

One fun fact about me is that I am bilingual and 1/8 Greek. One reason why students should study abroad is because it is an amazing opportunity for them to immerse themselves into a different culture, gain a global perspective, and develop valuable interpersonal skills.

Gabe Ham '25

Major: International Business

Minor: Marketing

My name is Gabe and I am a Senior at North Central. This past Spring 2024, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Milan, Italy at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. A fun fact about me is that I have been involved with the Coffee Lab at North Central since the first semester I transferred here. A reason why other students should consider studying abroad is definitely to expand your world view and to challenge yourself as well.

N. Hazen

Natalie Hazen '25

Major: Psychology
Minors: Marketing & IO Psychology

In spring semester 2024, I had the best experience studying abroad in Milan, Italy! I got to meet so many amazing people, traveled to so many places, learned about so many cultures, shopped too much, and studied, of course! Something interesting about myself is that I competitively rode horses for 10 years before coming to college!

One thing I wish I had known earlier about studying abroad is how accessible and affordable it is. I hope to guide other students in finding their future host country to make the memories of a lifetime! I’m here for any questions or advice to prepare students for their adventure abroad!

GO AWAY!!!😊

Jasmine

Jasmine Tixta '25

Major: Health Science

Minors: Psychology & Applied Communication Concentration

I transferred to NCC and participated in the Ireland course in May Term 2023 and the Spain course in May Term 2024.

A fun fact about me is that I am signed up to complete my third May Term abroad in Greece & Italy (Spring 25). All students should experience studying abroad, because NCC makes it very accessible to all; and every country has memorable life-changing adventures awaiting for everyone.

Molly

Molly Triplett '27

Major: Criminology

Minors: Writing & Spanish

While I haven't studied abroad yet, I am passionate about international education and study abroad! I’ll be going on the May Term course to Greece and Italy in May 2025. In Spring of 2026, I’ll be be studying abroad for a semester at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

I believe students should study abroad because it’s important to understand different cultures and be comfortable being uncomfortable to allow personal growth. A fun fact about me is that I’m currently learning Spanish.

Maren

Maren Wilder '25

Majors: Psychology and Spanish

Hello, I'm Maren! I'm a current senior majoring in psychology and Spanish, and I studied abroad in Fall 2022 to Sevilla, Spain! Since then, I've loved working closely with the CGE to encourage other students to "go away".

During my time abroad, I was engaged in studying Spanish history, art, culture, language, and food...all of which made me fall in love with study abroad! A fun fact about me is that I love to cook, especially from the recipe book my host mom gave me as a Christmas gift. I'd love any opportunity to connect with other professors and students about study abroad to let them know how much more there is to learn about themselves and the world through education abroad!
