"Go Away"

Feb 12, 2025

Encourage your Student to “Go Away” (Study Abroad)

North Central College has 38 study abroad program options in 21+ difference countries. Students can study abroad for a semester, an academic year, and/or participate in a Cardinal Destination Course Abroad (CDCA), a short-term (2-3 weeks) faculty-led course during May Term. Please find the Study Abroad Brochure here for more information. As a note, May Term 2026 opportunities will be announced later this spring semester.

As a first step in the process, students can schedule a (student-only) study abroad advising appointment with a study abroad advisor using this link

Upcoming Study Abroad Deadlines

Students looking to study abroad the spring 2026 semester, should meet with a study abroad advisor and submit their online application by May 1, 2025.

Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunities

Students studying abroad on a semester-long program are eligible to maintain their NC financial aid package. While study abroad is accessible and affordable, we encourage all students to apply for additional scholarships (listed here), both internally and externally. Additionally, a more comprehensive cost estimate is provided to students during a one-on-one study abroad advising appointment.

Celebrate Study Abroad Day on February 24, 2025!

The Center for Global Education (CGE) is excited to celebrate national Study Abroad Day on Monday, February 24, 2025. Each year, the CGE hosts fun and engaging events to inform students about their study abroad opportunities and encourage students to participate. This year, the CGE team plans to host an international bingo event to celebrate with the campus community. Celebrate with us by encouraging your student to “Go Away!”

We look forward to celebrating National Study Abroad Day, meeting with your student, and supporting them in their next steps to “Go Away!” Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Rachel Birkley, Associate Director, Education Abroad, at rebirkley@noctrl.edu, with any questions.
