Residence Life
Sep 13, 2024
On Friday, August 16, Residence Life welcomed 407 incoming first-year and transfer undergraduates and 12 first-year graduates onto campus. Thanks to our volunteers from across campus and our student athletes from football, men's and women's cross-country, and men's soccer, the process was smooth for all our Friday arrivals. Residents have had the opportunity to attend floor meetings since then to learn more about their time on campus and help set standards for their community and go to some floor hangouts with their resident assistant.
Each year, we receive a large number of questions about single rooms and getting into specific buildings. If your student wants to make a change, they should complete a waitlist request form through our online portal, eRezLife (noctrl.erezlife.com). Students can sign in and find the forms tab in the left-hand menu. Students who want to change due to a roommate conflict should start by contacting their RA. In most situations, we will work with the students to help them communicate and see if we can create a better living situation. Our goal is to help students develop conflict management skills that will help them both on campus and later in life, so we work with them to make a plan for resolving problems and communicating needs moving forward. Please have your student reach out to us if there is anything they need assistance with including relationships with other residents, facilities concerns or connecting across campus. We're happy to assist in any way we can!
For the 2025-2026 Housing Reapplication Process, we’ve moved up the timeline to avoid overlapping with midterms and classes. Current students can view and submit their housing applications starting Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at noon, with a deadline of October 31st, 2024 (Halloween), at noon for all students participating in housing reclaim or the lottery. The lottery process for new room assignments has been rescheduled to January 6, 2025, allowing more time for students to finalize their plans or make alternative arrangements before the end of the Spring 2025 semester. Further guides on roommate groups and the lottery process will be provided to students. Those who do not apply by the October 31st, 2024 deadline will not be assigned housing until July 2025, so it is very important that housing applications be submitted in time. Students with outstanding conduct sanctions will not be permitted to reclaim or participate in the housing lottery unless this is completed in time of the housing deadlines.
