North Central College welcomes to its Board of Trustees Dr. Ali Setork, real estate entrepreneur.
“I have a great passion for education, making it better for our children and our grandchildren,” said Setork. “Mr. A.A. Smith, the first president of North Central College, said: ‘A college should be a great moral lighthouse, sending out a clear and steady light upon all subjects.’ I would like to expand on this and see [the College serve as] a major source of innovation and new ideas and a foundation for a variety of new businesses with new platforms.
“I am very excited and hopeful. And, with my background, I can help North Central College prepare its students—our future managers and business owners—(to) be a significant fuel to energize Naperville and other cities across the country,” said Setork.
Setork is founder, owner and CEO of DynaCom Management, Inc., Naperville, since 1997. From 1984 to 2003, Setork was professor of computer science at Governors State University and assistant professor of data processing at Elmhurst College from 1983 to 1984.
Setork earned a Ph.D. in engineering and mathematics from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brown University, Providence, R.I. Setork serves on the board for the Naperville Development Partnership, the Naperville Building Review Board, and Spectrios Institution for Low Vision.
For most of their career, Setork and his wife, Mina, incorporated and focused on real estate development through their privately held DynaCom Management. The company has been involved in construction and management for many significant real estate projects in Naperville and elsewhere.
“I have lived in the Naperville area for over 30 years, and my two daughters were raised in this town,” said Setork. The Setork’s daughter, Dr. Leila Azarbad, is an associate professor of psychology at North Central College.
“It is a privilege and honor to welcome Ali to the College’s Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Troy D. Hammond, president of North Central College. “Ali has a lifelong passion for higher education that extends throughout his family, including his daughter Dr. Leila Azarbad, an associate professor of psychology at North Central College.”
