Joanne Quimby has played an active role in the Japanese Language Program since joining the North Central College faculty in 2013, and has also been active in the East Asian Studies and Gender and Women's Studies programs. Quimby holds a dual Ph.D in Modern Japanese Literature and Comparative Literature, with an emphasis on feminist theory and literary explorations of gender, and is eager to develop courses in the fields of Japanese literature and film, East Asian literature, and gender studies, to complement and build on the existing strengths of North Central College's programs in these areas. At North Central, Quimby has been teaching all levels of Japanese language and has also served as advisor to the Japan Club.
