How to Apply

Bright, motivated students are eligible to apply. Admission to the Lederman Scholars Program is based on students':

  • Academic ability
  • Personal maturity
  • Minimum composite ACT score of 30; minimum SAT Critical Reading and Math total score of 1330
  • Honors course work
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor is highly encouraged
  • Demonstrated commitment to becoming an informed, involved, principled and productive citizen and leader
  • Placing in the top five percent of class

After securing permission from your high school guidance counselor as well as your parent/guardian, or parents if home-schooled, you should complete a Lederman application. Dr. Richard Wilders, Marie and Bernice Gantzert Professor in the Liberal Arts and Sciences and Professor of Mathematics, serves as academic advisor to all Lederman Scholars. He works with you, your parents and high school counselors to create the appropriate program of study.
