Jan 18, 2017
North Central College will host Steve Forbes for a keynote presentation Jan. 31. At the invitation of the College’s student Republican organization, Forbes will speak on the topic of capitalism. Forbes is chair and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media.
“Mr. Forbes brings a wealth of knowledge that spans across the business world, politics and journalism. A speaker with his stature will help foster and promote civil discourse within the walls of institutional learning and beyond,” said Ryan T. Schuring, a senior and president of the College’s Student Government Association and vice president of the College Republicans.
Schuring said the opportunity to host Forbes at North Central College “provides a unique opportunity for both students and the community to learn from and engage with one of America's best.”
“We are very excited and honored that Mr. Steve Forbes will be speaking at North Central College,” said Michael Koehne Jr., a senior and president of the College Republicans. “Mr. Forbes’ presentation on ‘The Superiority of Capitalism’ will be informative and is expected to draw wide campus and community interest.”
The keynote will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The event is free and open to the public but a ticket is required. Call 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit the College’s box office during business hours. Tickets are not available online.
Young America’s Foundation (YAF) is a sponsor of the event. YAF introduces young people to conservative ideas through conferences, speakers, campus lectures and initiatives.
