Stephanie has immersed herself in diverse cultures. The way she sees it, “You need to know the cultures you’re studying.” In addition to her major in East Asian Studies with a focus on Japan, she added majors in Japanese and French.
She also studied abroad at Kanda University of International Studies in Japan and Université Catholique de L’Ouest in France. “North Central is great at setting you up in study abroad programs.”
Stephanie received North Central’s Richter Independent Study Fellowship allowing her to study in France and present her findings at a national conference. On campus, she was a College Scholar, coeditor of student literary journal and officer in the International Club.
“I find it’s very easy to adapt to East Asian cultures, which are not as different as they seem,” she says.
Stephanie plans to work in publishing, translating English to Japanese to French and back.
