Kim wants to teach, so it was impossible for her to turn down an opportunity to work after graduation as an English teaching assistant in France.
“I’m very excited about it,” says Kim, who will be working for the French government during her seven-month appointment. “I wouldn’t have received this opportunity without the support of North Central’s faculty. They wrote letters of recommendation and coached me through the application process.”
Kim mastered French at North Central through a combination of coursework, teaching, tutoring and independent study. She was co-president of the French club, lived in dorms with international students to help them adjust to life in the United States and served as a lab assistant in the Language Resource Center.
“It all helped me gain confidence in my teaching ability,” she says.
Kim plans to teach and pursue a master’s degree when she returns from France.
