Washington Street resurfacing project begins Sept. 9

Print Email Share

Starting Monday, Sept. 9, the City of Naperville will begin resurfacing work on Washington Street, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances. Work is expected to be complete in mid-October.

Construction along Washington Street—between Osler Drive (near Edward Hospital) and School Street (north end of campus)—may cause delays to motorists traveling to and from campus during this time. Students, faculty and staff who typically use Washington Street are encouraged to find alternate routes.

Washington Street will remain open while construction is taking place; however, there will be daytime lane closures with flaggers to maintain safety. Work will be completed during daytime hours with some off-hour work as necessary. Work will include resurfacing and restriping of Washington Street with improvements to curbs, sidewalks and prominent intersections.

Parking along Washington Street will be prohibited in the project work zone at all hours to help keep traffic flowing north and south while lane closures take place. No parking signs will be placed along Washington Street.

All construction is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes will be posted to the City’s website. You can also sign up to receive email news on all city projects and initiatives at naperville.il.us/enews.aspx.
