MLK Prayer Breakfast to feature young alum, coach and teacher
North Central's 2001 Outstanding Senior Man Brian Lee will be the College’s featured speaker at the Jan. 17 Prayer Breakfast honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hosted by President Harold R. Wilde, the breakfast will take place at 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in Centennial Hall at the Harold and Eva White Activities Center.

Lee is currently a teacher and coach at Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove Village, Ill. He teaches physical education classes, is co-sponsor of the African-American Club, and coaches varsity football, junior varsity softball and freshman girls basketball. He and his wife Thomasina have two daughters, Dori and Lelah.
As a North Central student, Lee was awarded the Outstanding Service to Student Life Award, Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Outstanding Senior Man and Homecoming King. He was named captain of the football and basketball teams and received three All-Conference honors; was a Resident Assistant, campus safety officer, team leader and tutor for Senior Scholars in Junior/Senior Scholars, counselor for the Premier Program and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Black Student Association and Cardinals in Action.
North Central College’s Martin Luther King Week, Jan. 15-22, is an annual celebration of the College's history of building bridges among cultures. This year’s celebration includes a keynote address by filmmaker Spike Lee on Jan. 18, a musical tribute to Dr. King by the Chicago Sinfonietta on Jan. 15 and the College’s 23rd annual Gospel Extravaganza on Jan. 22.
