A major renovation to the Harold and Eva White Activities Center (WAC) greeted students at the start of fall term. The Cage gained a fresh new look with new seating, lighting, flooring and new serving lines, along with two flat-screen televisions. The food stations can be closed off while the seating area remains open.
The serving lines feature special names and new menu items, like Coyote Jack’s, with hamburgers and chicken sandwiches; Tomato Head Red offering pasta and pizza from the new brick oven; and Freshens for smoothies, shakes and healthy snacks. Other improvements to WAC include a new elevator, bathroom on the first floor and a more open lobby after the removal of the glass wall.
In addition, a stone patio invites students to bring their food outside through a newly constructed door in the north wall of the Cage. The Class of 2006 gifted the patio to the College by purchasing bricks. According to Mary Reynolds, associate director of alumni events and coordinator of major campus events, later this year the names of the donors will be chiseled into the bricks. “And for those who thought they missed out, it’s not too late to buy your very own brick for the patio,” she says.
