North Central College student staff members at WONC-FM 89.1 received 13 nominations (including Best College Radio Station in the United States) from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) for its Golden Microphone Awards.
WONC received more individual nominations than any other school in its category of enrollments under 10,000. Three staff members—seniors Kevin Jackman, Kristin Gitchell and Kelsey King—each received three nominations.
Winners will be announced at the IBS annual conference in New York City March 3-6. WONC nominations are:

Best Podcast (three separate nominations): Jackman; Jared Shlensky ’14; Krug, Alex Palac ’15 and Halick

Best College/University Station (enrollments under 10,000): WONC-FM 89.1
North Central College’s WONC-FM was one of only five stations nominated for Best College/University Station. The other nominees in this category are Goshen College, Kutztown University, Gannon University and the University of Tennessee-Martin.
