May 10, 2010--North Central College's Jazz Studies Program will present its spring "Great Evening of Jazz" on Wednesday, May 19. The concert features all 12 of the College's jazz performing ensembles and begins at 7:30 p.m. in Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago, Naperville.

Featured in the concert will be Jazz Combos and Chamber Jazz Ensembles led by John McLean, Mitch Paliga, Jack Mouse, Doug Scharf and Frank Caruso; the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Janice Borla; the NCC Big Band and the Jazz Trombone Group, both under the direction of T.S. Galloway; the Jazz Saxophone Quartet, under the direction of Mitch Paliga; and the NCC Jazz Guitar Ensemble, led by John McLean.
The ensembles will perform compositions and arrangements by such jazz luminaries as Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, Bobby McFerrin, Janice Borla and others.
