John Daniels '69

John Daniels will receive the 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the National Black MBA Association. He is chairman of the national law firm Quarles & Brady LLP. “It is truly satisfying to be counted among such brilliant and accomplished people, who have set such high standards within the business community,” said Daniels.

Lowell “Bud” Berger '48

Lowell “Bud” Berger was honored in February as an inductee into Naperville Central High School’s (NCHS) first Hall of Fame class. Berger began his teaching career at NCHS in 1951 and retired in 1985. He taught physical education and coached the track and cross country teams, serving as head track coach for 15 years. Under his leadership as head coach, NCHS won 13 straight track and field conference championships. Berger introduced cross country to NCHS and under his leadership built a record of 140 wins, 17 losses and nine consecutive conference championships.

Charles Lee '57

Charles Lee is the author of “The Threat from Within.” The thriller tells how an Eastern European research institute, intent on eliminating America as a world superpower, developed the means to attack and destroy the mental capacity of American teenagers via cell phone radiation. He is also the author of the book “The Adventures of Ickle, Packy, Pickle and Gooch.” After graduating from North Central, Lee earned his master’s degree in mass communications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

John Bradley '59

John Bradley is one of the directors of the Chicago Area Health and Medical Careers program at the Illinois Institute of Technology. The program has introduced thousands of minority students to careers in medicine, dentistry and other health professions. Passionately involved in civil rights, Bradley participated in the March on Washington in 1963. Working behind the scenes, he witnessed the great attention to detail necessary in coordinating tens of thousands of people. “The March on Washington and others taught me so much about organizing,” he said.
