Three performances will be presented at 7:30 p.m. May 23-25 in North Central College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. The May 17 inauguration of Troy D. Hammond as North Central College’s 10th president takes place during Cornerstone Week, May 13-19, an annual celebration that commemorates the College’s 1870 move to Naperville from Plainfield and the laying of the cornerstone for Old Main.

The inauguration is also part of a week that includes the Last Lecture, honors ceremonies, research presentations, panel discussions, concerts, fireworks display, service project and more. Some events will be webcast live.

North Central’s math program wins grant for high school enrichment program

North Central College’s mathematics department secured Dolciani Mathematics Enrichment Grant to aid high-achieving high school math students.

North Central College’s department of mathematics recently secured a competitive Dolciani Mathematics Enrichment Grant (DMEG) from the Mathematical Association of America. The grant will be used to develop E2 (Expository Engagement): North Central Math Circle, an after-school math enrichment program for area high school students.

“It’s really exciting to be able to engage young, math-minded students at North Central,” said Neil Nicholson, North Central College assistant professor of mathematics and project director of E2.

North Central College head men’s cross country coach and associate head track and field coach Al Carius has been selected for induction into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame.

Carius was selected on the strength of his many accomplishments as an athlete, which include five individual Big Ten Conference championships at the University of Illinois, as well as the numerous accolades achieved in a 48-year coaching career at North Central. Read more

The 2013 Senior Art Show features the diverse body of work by North Central College art seniors, May 10-June 10, in two gallery locations.

Artwork by 10 North Central College art students is featured in the annual Senior Art Show, May 10 through June 10. The 2013 Senior Art Show features the diverse body of work created by North Central College art students, who will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in studio art or art education.

The Cardinals won five individual titles and totaled 264 points to win the team championship for the fourth time in five years and the 35th time overall.
