Smith is a senior majoring in theatre and psychology. She is the daughter of Kathryn Smith and the late Randy Smith and is a graduate of Byron High School.

May 21, 2012—Lucas Steidinger of Loves Park, Ill., was awarded the 2012 Clarence Juhnke Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College. The award recognizes the outstanding student majoring in music.

Steidinger is a junior majoring in music education with a focus on instrumental music and a minor in secondary education. He is the son of Bruce and Kay Steidinger and a graduate of Harlem Senior High School.

May 21, 2012—Alexandra Cook of Palatine was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Spanish Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Cook is a senior majoring in Spanish with minors in philosophy and conflict resolution at North Central College. She has been accepted to a generalist entry master’s program in nursing at Rush University. She is the daughter of Jerome Cook and Beverly Richard Cook and a graduate of Palatine High school.

Her name has regularly appeared on the College’s Dean List, which recognizes students with high academic achievement.

May 21, 2012—Elizabeth Burrow of Westmont was awarded the 2012 Outstanding Major in Literature Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College.

Burrow is a senior majoring in English literature with a minor in secondary education at North Central College. A nontraditional student, she transferred to North Central from the College of DuPage. Her name has regularly appeared on the College’s Dean’s List, which recognizes students with high academic achievement.

The third and final film of the Film Central series will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Madden Theatre. The new student film club Celluloid has chosen the featured film, “Rubber,” for its first campus-wide showing as an official club. Admission is $3/North Central community and $4/general public. “Rubber” is rated R and considered an indie horror film.
