Russian As Second Lang (Adv)
For children aged 7 years and older who hear Russian at home but respond in English (i.e., their Russian is passive) and for kids to adults who do not speak Russian. This course will provide an emphasis on oral speech and on writing. First semester includes basic communication and alphabet skills. By the end of the first semester, students should be able to exchange greetings, express their likes and dislikes, name and describe family members, express agreement and disagreement, etc. They will learn the alphabet. Some introduction to Russian culture: simple poems and songs will be used as part of class materials. In the second and third semester, students will further expand communication proficiency.
