Hunter and the Framing of Doping in American Newspapers,” in Sport in Society, November 2013. The article was coauthored with Gertrud Pfister of the University of Copenhagen.

Sarah Shillington is executive vice president of solutions at Leidos Health in Chicago, a new company that aims to solve some of the world’s most daunting challenges in national security, health and engineering. Michael Patierno is athletic director and transportation director for Colonel Beach Public Schools in Colonel Beach, VA. Patierno served for 20 years as a U.S. Army Military Police officer. He then worked as athletic director of Skyline High School in Front Royal, VA, and was assistant principal of Warren High School.

His interview was part of a telecast by NCTV on the weekend of the Edward Hospital Naperville Marathon and Half Marathon, Nov. 10.

Tammy Wynard, North Central College visiting instructor of health and physical education and coordinator of the health education and wellness programs, presented at the annual American School Health Association conference in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Oct. 10-12. The conference brought together professionals working in higher education, K-12 school teachers and nurses, as well as community health education professionals.
 

Campus Initiates Green Dot Training

North Central College has adopted Green Dot training to empower bystanders to intervene in potential personal violence situations.

Green decals started showing up on campus recently, the unveiling of an initiative that encourages a broader awareness about personal violence. Green Dot shifts the focus from potential victims and perpetrators to the importance of bystanders, who are trained to think and act in ways that make the campus environment intolerant of power-based personal violence.

North Central College began the 2013-2014 academic year Sept. 16 with a record number of students.

North Central College began the 2013-2014 academic year Sept. 16 with a record number of students.

Total enrollment stands at 3,048 undergraduate and graduate students, eclipsing the 3,000 mark for the second straight year. The College welcomed 852 new full-time undergraduate students. Enrollment this fall includes a record number of international students and increased representation of out-of-state students and veterans.
