Student Reader Services
Student readers are available for one-on-one reading in mutally convenient and appropriate locations on campus. With advanced notification, readers are available by appointment during the day, early evening hours and on the weekends. These services can be helpful if a student prefers to work with a live reader in addition to using alternative print formats, or if materials cannot be obtained on time. Students who are eligible to receive this service can request a list of readers and their contact information. Students can schedule reader services by emailing readers three days in advance to set up an appointment. Late requests may not receive services.
When contacting a reader, it is suggested that a student provide his/her name, reason the reader was contacted, and dates/times of availability. It is recommended that multiple readers are contacted in case of schedule conflicts.
Readers and students are expected to arrive on time for scheduled sessions. Students are responsible for bringing the reading material to the session. If a student is unable to attend a scheduled reading session, he/she should notify the reader at least 24 hours in advance of the session. Two or more "unexcused" absences will result in 1) interruption of the reader service for the student and/or 2) a conference with the Academic Support Center staff member. Students are responsible for notifying the Academic Support Center if the student is late or misses a session without prior notification.
