Program and Degree Options

Minor in urban and suburban studies by completing 21 credit hours, with six electives from courses like HST 120 Chicago History, ART 261 Chicago Art and Architecture, HST 235 American Cities and Suburbs, HPE 360 Sport in Society, SOA 190 Urban Problems and SOA 494 Chicago Field Study.

You will also complete the USS 300 Urban and Suburban Studies course, which explores cities and suburbs, examines leadership and values in a metropolitan setting, and studies the concept of social justice.

You can combine an Urban and Suburban Studies minor with a major in journalism, political science, sociology and other disciplines for careers in urban planning, communications, social work, law and many other fields.
