North Central College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in philosophy at the assistant or associate professor level to begin September 1, 2014. A Ph.D. in philosophy is required by the time of appointment. Applicants should exhibit a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, an eagerness to engage students outside the classroom, as well as a commitment to scholarship. AOS: open. AOC (two or more of the following listed in order of priority): history of philosophy (especially 19th and 20th centuries), ethical theory, continental philosophy, aesthetics, philosophy of law, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, non-western philosophy. The position may also involve opportunities to teach in one or more of the College’s interdisciplinary programs, including History of Ideas, Gender and Women’s Studies, Global Studies, and Environmental Studies.
