North Central College seeks applications for two three-year full-time visiting positions in the Department of Education to begin September 1, 2014. Appointment at the rank of assistant professor is anticipated, but higher rank may be considered for suitably qualified candidates.
An earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a related field is expected and should be in hand at the time of appointment. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a P-12 setting, with teaching experience within higher education a plus. Applicants should demonstrate a potential for excellence in teaching.
The successful candidates should be able to teach graduate courses that lead to a master’s degree and certification for the principalship in the area of educational leadership and administration. Candidates should also have a demonstrated record of working with school partners to sustain and further advance collaborations which develop mutual benefits for Pre-K through 12th grade students and teacher candidates as well as aspiring principals. Candidates should have experience in the role of principal. The successful candidate will demonstrate scholarship and service to the profession, preferably including leadership within higher education. Familiarity with the new Illinois state regulations for principal preparation programs is highly recommended.
