North Central College invites applications for a new full-time tenure track position in Chinese to begin September 1, 2014. Requirements include a Ph.D. in Chinese or related field by time of appointment; native or near-native command of (Mandarin) Chinese and English; commitment to a proficiency-based communicative curriculum; and familiarity with the North American higher education system. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor is anticipated, but higher rank may be considered for suitably qualified candidates. Successful candidates will demonstrate potential for excellence in college-level teaching and scholarship. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in the development of undergraduate Chinese programs.
