North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Theatrical Design to begin Fall 2013. Appointment at the rank of assistant professor is anticipated, but higher rank may be considered for suitably qualified candidates. Ph.D. or M.F.A in Theatre/Theatrical Design must be in hand by September 1, 2013. Applicants should demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarship.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in set design and at least one of the other following design areas: costumes, lights, or sound. This individual will also design at least one production a year during the mainstage season. The theatre department at North Central College is a dynamic community experiencing strong growth. Faculty, students, and guest artists collaborate to stage the season in three spaces, including state-of-the-art black box and thrust theatres and a large proscenium theatre. We look forward to advancing our design/technical theatre program and staging our productions on sets that take full advantage of our first-rate performance spaces.
