Alumna gives talk about social service, guest musician shares Peruvian music

North Central’s Nicole Coate ’01 and Alvaro Salazar give talk, musical presentation Nov. 7 about their nonprofit work and how they’re inspiring change in Peru.

North Central welcomes alumna Nicole Coate ’01 and Alvaro Salazar to present their lecture and musical presentation, titled “Inspiring Change in Peru: An Evening of Music and Creative Thoughts on Social Service.”

The free presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in Koten Chapel.

North Central College hosts Oct. 15 lecture, “Poverty, Medicine and Human Rights in Guatemala,” by two citizens who serve, work with the poor in their country.

North Central College hosts two speakers in a free lecture, titled “Poverty, Medicine and Human Rights in Guatemala,” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in Smith Hall at Old Main.

The speakers are Arleth Molina, a hospital administrator in Guatemala, and her husband, Carlos Molina, a professor at Rafael Landivar University in Guatemala. The husband-wife team has extensive experience working with the poor.

North Central College hosts documentary about food insecurity in America

“A Place at the Table,” a documentary about hunger in America, will be shown Oct. 8 as part of College’s yearlong human rights focus on poverty reduction.

North Central College will host a free screening of the documentary “A Place at the Table” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Smith Hall at Old Main.
