Your first year sets the tone for your entire college career. We have an exciting and comprehensive vision for this important transition year–we call it the First-Year Experience (FYE). It goes beyond Summer Orientation and Welcome Week and includes all the keys to your success: Building a strong relationship with your faculty advisor and first-year mentor, engaging in your FYE 100 course and taking advantage of unique opportunities during December Term. We don’t just give you a map—we walk with you every step of the way.
SUMMER ORIENTATION 2013 [June 14, 17, 19, 21, July 31, or Aug 2]
Your immersion into campus culture will begin with a one-day Summer Orientation and Registration program. It’s an exciting time of introductions—you’ll meet lots of new friends and classmates, get acquainted with our helpful orientation staff, and get to know your faculty advisor. You’ll also register for your fall term classes and gain access to all of our technology services. You’ll be a certified Cardinal!
CARDINAL CAMPS 2013 [September 4-9]
Sign up for a Cardinal Camp to get a valuable jump-start to your college experience. Each unique opportunity is designed to connect you with new friends, faculty and staff while introducing the foundational values that are integral to a North Central College liberal arts education. Shared moments of adventure, discussion, exploration and service provide an unforgettable immersion into life as a Cardinal – a life that will be shaped into an “informed, involved, principled and productive” leader. Check out our Fall 2013 Cardinal Camp options.
WELCOME WEEK 2013 [September 11-15]
If you are a resident student, you’ll be met by an energetic throng of students, staff and alumni when you pull up to the curb the week before classes. They will make the move-in process literally “no sweat.” Then, a whirlwind week of excitement begins.
We’ll cover the nuts and bolts to ensure you’re fully acquainted and equipped with everything you need—ID cards, class schedules, books and maps. But you’ll also get a jump-start on our academic environment through your FYE 100 course and you'll experience a jam-packed schedule of fun and exploration that takes you from downtown Naperville to downtown Chicago. You’ll enjoy music, comedians, competitions, service projects and even a boat dance on Lake Michigan.
Most importantly, we’ll introduce you to the values, mission and traditions that have made North Central a special place for more than 150 years. From the formal opening Convocation to the century-old Torch Light Parade—and the ensuing pep rally of epic proportions—you’ll quickly learn why “North Central is the school we love.” Check out the full Welcome Week Schedule here.
