National Girls and Women in Sports Day Celebration 2011
North Central College continued its tradition of leadership in the recognition and celebration of women’s athletics.
Some 150 people gathered Jan. 28 for the inaugural Snow Bowl in honor of Lora L. Tyson and to raise funds for an education resource center in her name.
Due to the wintry weather, postponements and cancellations include a Feb. 3 film screening and artist reception and a Feb. 1 lecture.
North Central College will be closed at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, through Wednesday, Feb. 2. All classes and regularly scheduled activities are canceled.
Winter term’s first Underground faculty/student reading series is happening tonight at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in the basement of the Boilerhouse Cafe.
Perry Hamalis, associate professor of religious studies, contributed four articles to the new reference, “The Encyclopedia of Eastern Orthodox Christianity.”
A record 38 students from various academic areas will represent North Central at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research this spring.
Students can win prizes for earning an “A.” Present your quiz, test, paper or assignment that received an A grade to ResLife, WAC front desk or hall directors.
International programs will host a lecture, titled “Renting a Womb in India: Outsourcing’s New Frontier,” by Madhu Rao at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1.
