North Central College is honoring J. Charles Eldridge of Wake Forest, N.C., with a 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award.

North Central College’s first president was Augustine Austin (A.A.) Smith, who served from 1861 to 1883 of Plainfield College and North-Western College.
