North Central College students, faculty, staff and friends can track the progress of the Cardinals' bid to repeat as national champions in men's track and field by watching live online coverage of this weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.

The women's and men's 2011 Division III Outdoor National Championships are taking place at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Live televised coverage of events is scheduled to be available beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, and continuing on Friday and Saturday. Click here to connect to the NCAA website or visit the Cardinal athletic site and select "watch."

The Cardinal men won the Indoor National Championship in March, and in 2009-2010 the team hit a historic trifecta with national titles in cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field.

The team looks to repeat another championship performance with 13 entries in seven events this weekend: Michael Spain (10K, 5K), Dan Kerley (10k), Neal Klein (10k), Dan Benton (400m, 1600m relay), Jon Howard (400m, 1600m relay), Jon Caron, Randal Ellison (1600m relay), Joe Schneiderbauer (decathlon), Zachariah Heerspink (high jump), Josh Winder, Peter Geraghty, Thomas Stacey, and John Wood (pole vault).

The Cardinal women have nine total entries in the meet. North Central has two qualifiers in the 400-meter dash, Sheila Walsh  and Lauren Brightmore, who will team with Krista Cota and Linnea Higgins to compete in the 4x400-meter relay. Cota will also compete in the 800-meter run. Amanda Laesch will compete in two events at the championships: the 5,000 meters  and 10,000 meters events. Brianna Tolliver will compete in the javelin throw, Kayla Murphy in the 200-meter dash and Alicia Zimmerman in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
