On April 28, 28 graduating seniors who are enrolled in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) track took the Ethics portion of the five-part CPA exam on campus. Typically, students don’t have an opportunity to take part of the CPA exam before graduation. But, Sarah McKinney, assistant professor of accounting, arranged the Ethics exam through her professional association with the Illinois CPA Society. Because North Central and the Illinois CPA Society co-sponsored the test, students received a discounted rate.
Also on April 28, the Student Accounting Society hosted a presentation by Debra Hopkins, an accounting professor at Northern Illinois University and director of the school’s CPA Review Program. She gave an in-depth presentation about the CPA Exam and discussed current changes and what to expect in preparing, studying and sitting for the exam.
