With the help of a $30,000 matching grant from the City of Naperville’s Greener Business Program, North Central installed new energy-efficient windows throughout the Student Village women’s residence hall this summer. The updated brown color was chosen to match the brown trim around the building.
The grant also helped the College with its efforts this summer to install motion detectors in Old Main, Harold and Eva White Activities Center, Carnegie Hall, Kroehler Science Center and Goldspohn Hall. The detectors automatically shut off the lights in halls and offices when there is no motion for 30 minutes. This installation follows a campus-wide installation of T8 energy-efficient fluorescent lighting.
