SIFE students head to Guatemala to advance business

Print Email Share

Ten students who are actively involved in Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) left Naperville Nov. 30 for a two-week visit to three communities in Guatemala. They will meet with coffee growers in San Lucas Toliman, do consulting work, produce marketing pamphlets in English, share the processes and products that have worked well, and give formal presentations on what happens to products once they’re in the United States. SIFE advisors Matthew Krystal, assistant professor of anthropology, and Jean Clifton, associate professor of management and graduate coordinator for the master of business administration program, will accompany the students. The visits to Guatemala—which have taken place since 2005—are designed to give growers a rare look at the end result of their labor.
