NCC's Best store, operated by members of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), is open for business Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new store location at 100 E. Jefferson Ave. first opened to the public during the December holidays. Its successful run led to the new weekend hours. The store features an inventory of organic, certified green, certified fair trade and direct-trade items, including coffee and various crafts produced in Central American and African countries.
“The purpose of our store is to give students hands-on experience in all aspects of running a business, as well as teaching them the importance of transparent business operations,” says Gerald Thalmann, associate professor of accounting and one of the SIFE faculty advisors. “At the same time the store allows students to educate consumers about the origin of the products they purchase.”
