In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month—celebrated annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15—the student organization Raza Unida will show the Spanish film “REC” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall. Admission is free.
Samantha Suarez ’13, co-president of Raza Unida, says, “We want to open up the opportunity for North Central students to experience what Spanish films have to offer.”
Rated R for violence, “REC” follows a young TV reporter and her cameraman who are doing a routine interview at a local fire station in Barcelona when an emergency call comes in. Accompanying the firefighters to a nearby apartment, the news team begins recording the terrifying screams coming from inside a unit. The news crew, firefighters and residents become trapped, facing a terror inside.
