Senior Alyssa Digges will direct Out of Order, a comedic farce by British playwright Ray Cooney, Jan. 7, 8 and 9 as part of North Central’s Student Director Series. It's an adult comedy about a romantic evening that goes terribly awry. The plot line features Richard Willey, the Junior Prime Minister, who plans to spend an evening with Jane, a secretary for the Opposition, in the Westminster Hotel in London. Things go disastrously wrong, beginning with the discovery of a body trapped in the hotel room’s unreliable window. Desperately trying to get out of a potentially headline-making situation, Richard calls for his administrative assistant, George. However, with a opportunistic waiter, a suspicious hotel manager, an alert private detective, an angry wife, a furious husband, a bungling secretary, an unconscious nurse and a dead body to deal with, this is not the romantic evening Richard had planned. Digges chose to direct this show because it is a farce and says, “The play is brilliantly written and fast-paced. It’s witty and hilarious without being overly bawdy. And due to the nature of the show, it’s imperative that the actors work as a cohesive ensemble so they’re able to play off each other and deliver perfect timing, which our students do wonderfully. And staging it in our thrust stage theatre is an ideal playing space.” Out of Order will be staged at 7:30 p.m. in Meiley-Swallow Hall. Tickets are $5/adults and $3/students and senior citizens; call 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit
