The men’s basketball team traveled to Italy this summer for a chance to compete internationally and see some of Italy’s great historical sites. During the 2011-2012 season, the men tied the school record with 22 wins, making the school’s deepest postseason run in the NCAA tournament.
On the basketball court, the reigning CCIW champions played an afternoon game on Aug. 4 with the Ostia Sharks professional team in Rome. The Cardinals (photo, light jerseys) pulled away from the Sharks, 98-72, in a competitive game. A second game in Florence was canceled.
Off the court, the Cardinals enjoyed guided tours throughout Italy, visiting Rome, Siena, Toluca, Florence and Pisa and many of the country’s beautiful cathedrals and historic structures, including the Colosseum and Sistine Chapel at Vatican City. Click here for more information.
