Print Email Share
Laurel White ’10 has won a highly competitive Dunn Fellowship for 2010-2011. The fellowship provides a full salary and benefits to work for one year in the Governor of Illinois’ Press Office in Springfield. Top students from around the country apply and fewer than 20 fellowships are awarded each year. Her assignment begins in August. An English writing major, White was also accepted into the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and she will be deferring her enrollment for a year to serve as a Dunn Fellow. While at North Central, White has explored her interest in public policy journalism by researching British impressions of the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign as a study abroad student in London. For research into the culture of political satire, she attended a taping of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” In addition, she is co-editor-in-chief of the Chronicle.
