Judy Walters, associate professor of computer science, and
Leah Kind, adjunct instructor of English, gave a presentation at the 2009 Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area (ACCA) Scholarship of Pedagogy Symposium held at Lewis University on Oct. 17.

Their talk, “Roll Up Your Sleeves: Using Service Learning to Increase Student Engagement,” was based on service learning components built into the spring 2009 IDS 125 section, taught by Walters and Kind, and the winter 2009 IDS 125 section, taught by Walters and
Richard Guzman, professor of English and coordinator of master of arts in liberal studies program. The ACCA symposium included 60 presentations involving 69 presenters from 17 Chicago area colleges and universities.
