John Madormo, assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC-FM 89.1, took second place in the Comedy Division at the Chicago Screenwriters Network 2009 Midwest Screenwriting Contest for his screenplay, a comedy titled
The Boys' Club. It also reached the Semi-Finals of the 2009 Scriptapalooza International Screenplay Competition.
The Boys’ Club is about five retired widowers who meet each day for coffee, doughnuts and an endless discussion of minutia. When one of them passes away, leaving the others a quarter of a million dollars, they devise a plan to protect their riches from greedy relatives and nursing home administrators. They decide to spend it, and fast. The answer? Vegas road trip!
