It’s a big weekend in athletics

Starting Saturday morning, Nov. 17, the men’s cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The men’s race is set to get underway at 10 a.m. Central time (11 a.m., Eastern). Nationally, the Cardinal men are ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division III National Coaches’ Top 35 Poll, behind only Haverford College (Pa.). Results will be available at as soon as possible Saturday.

The 14th-ranked Cardinal football team (8-2) opens its postseason NCAA Division III National Championship run by taking on eighth-ranked California Lutheran University (8-1) at Thousand Oaks, Calif. The game starts at 2 p.m. (noon, Pacific time) and can be viewed online or heard at WONC-FM 89.1. Fans can also view the game with other Cardinal fans in Naperville at Bar Louie restaurant at River Square Plaza, 22 E. Chicago Ave. Come and go as you wish, but please RSVP to or 630-637-5200. Cardinal fans will gather at the back of the restaurant; food and beverage purchases are on your own.  

The men’s and women’s basketball teams also play Saturday at home in Gregory Arena. The women take the court at 5 p.m. against Alma College and the third-ranked Cardinal men meet seventh-ranked Hope College at 7:30 p.m. Listen to both matchups online at WONC-FM 89.1.
